A Business Operating System for Scaling Founder-Led Companies

Resonance is a business operating system for $3M+ founder-led companies that defines operational Rules, focuses Inputs, and drives predictable Outputs so you scale with less force.

Identify where your business is creating drag.

You don’t need more ideas, more intensity, or more hours.

You need an intentional business operating system.

Most companies scale through force. Founder energy drives results early. Over time, unclear decision rules, scattered priorities, and inconsistent execution create friction and drag down growth.

Every Business Already Runs on a Business Operating System.

It's just unintentional, which creates inefficiency and waste.

An Intentional Business Operating System Operates with Three Layers

Rules

Rules are the decision logic that guides leadership behavior, resource allocation, and prioritization. They shape how tradeoffs are made, how capital is deployed, and how leaders interpret opportunities. When Rules are implicit or inconsistent, decisions vary by personality or pressure, creating friction and drift.

Inputs

Inputs are where the business directs its time, money, and attention. They include strategic initiatives, hiring decisions, marketing investments, operational focus, and leadership energy. When Inputs are scattered across competing priorities, effort increases but leverage decreases.

Outputs

Outputs are the measurable results that determine performance. Revenue, margin, customer retention, operational efficiency, and leadership capacity are all Outputs of the system. When Rules are unclear and Inputs are misaligned, Outputs become unpredictable and scaling requires force.

How it works

Building an intentional Business Operating System

Resonance is codified in a multi-day OS Design Workshop and then run through Quarterly Deployments, Ops Command, and an Annual OS Upgrade over 12-months to intentionally rebuild the business operating system for scale.

OS Design Workshop

The OS Design Workshop is where the governing logic of the business is defined. In Part One, leadership clarifies the Rules that shape decisions, market focus, structural capabilities, financial design, and accountability. This makes the implicit operating logic of the company explicit and removes hidden friction.

In Part Two, we concentrate Inputs. We define the 1-Year Mission, select the operating bias that guides trade-offs, narrow market focus, and establish measurable outcomes and indicators that make scaling inevitable. The result is not a plan, but an intentional business operating system that anchors priorities, capital allocation, and execution discipline.

Quarterly Deployments

Quarterly Deployments are structured 90-day cycles where the strategic intent of the business operating system activates into focused execution. At the start of each quarter, leadership selects a small number of high-leverage Inputs aligned to the 1-Year Mission and defines the measurable Outputs that indicate success.

At the end of the quarter, performance is reviewed at the system level, not just the task level, and Rules are refined where friction or waste has emerged. This cycle strengthens structural capabilities and ensures scaling compounds rather than scatters.

Ops Command

Ops Command is a weekly leadership alignment that reinforces the business operating system. Each session reviews the defined Outputs, evaluates whether current Inputs are producing leverage, and resolves decision friction using the established Rules.

This weekly alignment prevents reactive management and ensures that leadership attention remains concentrated on what drives scaling. Ops Command converts strategy into measurable weekly progress and stops drift before it compounds.

Annual OS Upgrade

Each year, we upgrade the business operating system to reflect structural maturity and new strategic realities. We review the full OS Design, assess the strength of Structural Capabilities, recalibrate the 3-Year Financial Profile, and define the next 1-Year Mission and Operating Focus.

This upgrade process ensures the system remains aligned with long-term direction while concentrating Inputs for the year ahead. The operating system does not reset, it upgrades, increasing leverage, sharpening focus, and improving predictability as the business scales.

Meet Joel Marc

I design business operating systems for founder-led companies ready to scale. I help leadership teams bring intentionality to the Rules that govern decisions, concentrate Inputs where they create leverage, and drive measurable Outputs that compound over time.

With 15 years of experience across technology, ecommerce, and consumer goods, I have led and advised growth-stage companies from $1M startups to $500M brands. My perspective is grounded in operational reality and shaped by firsthand experience as a founder, COO, CMO, and management consultant. Most scaling friction is not a market issue. It is a structural one.

Through Resonance OS, I work directly with founders to codify the governing logic of their business and reinforce it through disciplined execution. Scaling shifts from force-driven to system-driven.

I am a graduate of the UBC Sauder School of Business, a Mentor in the Sauder Founders Lab Scale Up program, and an MBA candidate at Royal Roads University.
